NKR Prime Minister on Official Visit to United States; Meets with Archbishop Barsamian in NYC
While on an official visit to the United States, NKR Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan yesterday met with Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church at his residence in Saint Vartan Cathedral in New York City. Also in attendance were representatives of the local Armenian community.
The NKR Public Affairs Department reports that PM Harutyunyan talked about the current socio-economic situation in Karabakh, development projects being implemented and the current state of negotiations of the Karabakh conflict settlement. The two leaders also reaffirmed the importance of reconstructing the town of Shushi and the upcoming Armenia Fund Telethon.
PM Harutyunyan also paid a visit to Karen Nazaryan, Armenian’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations, located a stone’s throw from St. Vartan’s Cathedral in mid-town NYC. Later yesterday, Mr. Harutyunyan met with Paul Sinoian, President of the Armenian Jewellers Association and stressed the importance that such organizations can play in providing much needed investment and expertise in the homeland.
Travelling with PM Harutyunyan are Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese; Davit Babayan, NKR Press Department Chief of Staff and Robert Avetisyan, NKR’s Permanent Representative for the United States.
