Incumbent Mayor Mher Martoyan was re-elected on December 6 in the village of Tzovinar, Gegharkounik Marz. He garnered 1,879 votes in favour and 6 against his re-election for the top post in Tzovinar, a community with 5,200 residents. Mayor Martoyan ran unchallenged for the top post in the community as an independent. When asked why there were no other contenders, the mayor told “Hetq”, “Maybe it’s because the people like what we are doing.” The mayor stated that top priorities in his second term would be reopening the village kindergarten, the cultural center and getting the roads paved. Elections for the village council were held the same day. Eight of the 11 council members are independents with one member each from the ARF, Republican and Prosperous Armenia parties.
