Judge Declares Postponement 20 Minutes Before Start of Trial
Judge Mazmanyan abruptly postponed today’s court date in the trial pitting plaintiff Radio Hye against MP Stepan Safaryan of the Heritage Party. Twenty minutes before the scheduled start of today’s session, Judge Mazmanyan told Radio Hye’s attorney that the trial would be pushed back till December 23 due to the ill health of the defendant.
In the defamation suit, Radio Hye is demanding a public retraction of an article penned by MP Safaryan, entitled “A Two Part Radio Concert on the Orders of the President”, in which the Heritage Party MP alleges that the radio program was in fact broadcast at the express request of the president. Radio Hye alleges that the article in question defamed the working integrity of the station.
