Marxist Quits HAK - "I only cooperate with God and Armenian people"
Today, Armenia’s Marxist Party leader, Davit Hakobyan declared that he is pulling out of the HAK (Armenian National Congress) spearheaded by Levon Ter-Petrosyan and other opposition political forces. Comrade Hakobyan pointed to ideological differences as the reason for breaking his ties with HAK.
The Marxist leader said that he had originally joined the ranks of HAK during the tumultuous events on 2008 in the hopes that the alliance would serve as the locomotive for regime change but that it had a limited number of tactical weapons in its arsenal and never fulfilled his dream. Comrade Hakobyan argued that a new national; ideology never was created and that the new HAK coalition never advanced beyond the confines of the old Pan-National movement (HHZh).
Regarding the upcoming parliamentary by-election in District 10, Hakobyan stated that all the candidates are potential “fraudsters”. “All of them will do their best to pull votes from my name. Let those who revert to voter fraud in this contest be damned from generation to generation,” he said, adding that his resignation from HAK would only help his chances in the election.
