Residents in Abovyan Up In Arms Over Mayor's Transport Shuffle
“Hetq” has received a letter from a group of Abovyan town residents complaining that newly elected Mayor Gouloyan has decided to move the public transport station for minivans plying the Abovyan-Yerevan route to a location on the outskirts of town.
Residents state that the move was done without advising the public and that the new location, an old Soviet era bus station, is quite inconvenient and potentially dangerous, especially as it is located in an isolated part of town. The letter writers state that many now have to pay for a bus just to get to the station; in essence paying a double fare. They believe that the move was taken by the town merely as a way to make some additional money off the backs of local residents.
