At a press conference held earlier today, Heritage Party MP Larisa Alaverdyan stated that it was only her party that immediately issued a programmatic thesis after the April 22-23, 2009 declaration regarding normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. “Any given nation wishes to foster good relations with its neighbours, but the questions is at what price. The price that confronts us deals with our future and the Heritage Party was able to get the message out to wide segments of society about these protocols,” MP Alaverdyan stated. She added that the party would continue its efforts in this direction regardless if the protocols are ratified or not. “We must make it clear that these protocols do not represent the free will of the Armenian people even if they are ratified. The public already is aware of the pitfalls these documents represent. The people must reject the protocols and demand that a new government come to power with that aim. The next government can throw out these protocols for good if they are accepted by the present one,” MP Alaverdyan noted.
