At today’s year-end session of the Aragatzotn Regional Council, Sirasnik Hovsepyan, who heads the Local Self-Governance Administration, threatened to up the fines from 40,000 to 100,000 AMD for those community mayors who continue to evade the chlorination regulations. “Most all of you have obtained chlorine in your communities but fail to implement the process. So why have you gone out and purchased the chemical? Especially now, during the winter season, the water must be treated. We will severely fine those communities who have chlorine stocks but fail to utilize them,” Hovsepyan told the assembled community mayors.
