Election Results: Simonyan - 7,622; Pashinyan - 5,023
As of 3 p.m. today, the Central Election Committee has verified that 13,385 voters cast ballots in yesterday’s parliamentary by-election in District 10.
7,622 ballots were cast for National Unity Party candidate Ara Simonyan. Coming in second place was "Haykakan Zhamanak" Chief Editor Nikol Pashinyan with 5,023 votes. Mr. Pashinyan is being held in custody during his on-going trial on charges of fomenting and organizing public unrest during the events of March 1, 2008. The third candidate, Marxist Party Chairman Davit Hakobyan, trailed way behind with a mere 299 votes. 438 ballots were nullified for a variety of reasons.
