Seismic Testing on Glendale Hills Buildings in Gyumri
For the past few days, seismic tests have been conducted at the new residential complex built by the Glendale Hills construction company in Gyumri.
The tests, initiated by the Armenian government, are being carried out by specialists from the "Hayseismshin Institute". The residential buildings are to house those families left homeless who for years had been living in a variety of temporary housing.
On January 18, the "Shirak Center" NGO, had sent a letter to the Armenian president and prime minister, with the demand that such tests be conducted. The organization noted that rumors had been flying in Gyumri that the new buildings had been poorly constructed and didn’t meet minimum housing codes, including seismic codes.
