Volunteers Plant Trees to Mark Earth Day

Today, tree planting took place on the grounds of the St. Sargis Armenian Church in Nor Nork. Some 200 saplings were planted by volunteers from the Young Biologists Association, the Yerevan State University’s Scientific Union, students from the "Kvant" Institute and others. A tree specialist from ATP (Armenian Tree Project) was on hand to give the volunteers a brief primer on the do’s and don’ts of tree planting. Also participating were the OSCE Yerevan Office and the British Council. Guest of honor at the event was England’s Ambassador to Armenia, Charles Lonsdale. The planting was one of the events schedules to mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
