An art exhibit dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide opened today on the premises of the Armenian Painters Union in Yerevan. On display are 250 works, in various mediums, by artists from Armenia and the diaspora. Over 600 applicants submitted entries for the exhibit, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, that were screened and whittled down by a panel of experts. On hand for the opening ceremonies were RoA National Assembly President Hovik Abrahamyan, Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, and other invited dignitaries. Several of the best works on display will be procured by the government to be added to the permanent collection of the Armenia’s National Picture Gallery. The exhibit will run through the beginning of May.
