Fraudulent Construction Claims Lead to Criminal Case in Lori

A criminal case has been launched by the Lori Regional Prosecutor’s Office regarding abuses uncovered in exterior building renovation and roof repair work carried out in the town of Spitak. An investigation conducted by the State Interests Protection Department has revealed that the firm of "Tigran and Avik" had a government contract to conduct exterior ornamentation and roof installation at two buildings located on Avedisyan Strret. The firm had been paid 11 million AMD and around 5 million for the two jobs based on preliminary expense estimates. It turns out that the firms director both inflated the expense amounts and turned in receipts for work that was never performed. Even worse, employees of the Spitak Municipality, responsible for inspecting the quality and amount of work performed by the firm, certified the fraudulent cost claims presented by "Tigran and Avik". The criminal case has been sent to the Lori Police Department’s Investigations Unit.
