Rains Cause Road, Railway Problems
Yesterday, the mayor of the village of Geghanush issued a bulletin warning that at thirty meter stretch of road leading from the village to the fields had given way due to the recent rains. An emergency service unit was dispatch from the Syunik Regional Authority to inspect the roadway.
On the same day, the Lori Regional Authority issued a communiqué about a landslide that occurred on May 4 near the Alaverdi bus station, threatening nearby electric and telephone poles.
The chief of the Vanadzor office of Southern Caucasian Railways, reports that on May 5, a sinkhole opened on the Shahal-Pambak stretch of railway, overturning a high voltage stanchion.
