Simplified Visa Procedure for Armenian Citizens Discussed

President Serzh Sargsyan met yesterday with Štefan Füle, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy.  A wide range of issues related to Armenia’s European integration was discussed. The President emphasized the importance of collaboration with the European Union, from the point of view of effective reforms in all spheres of life.  The President stated that getting closer to the European Union has been one of the priorities of the foreign policy of Armenia since independence and the Eastern Partnership heralded a new chapter in Armenia-EU relations.  Serzh Sargsyan said that he felt the Eastern Partnership would also allow better relations to develop among the six partner countries involved in the program. The two leaders also spoke about the issue of simplifying visa procedures for Armenian citizens travelling to EU countries.  The Armenian President said that facilitating the mobility of citizens would allow more person-to-person interaction, which in turn would lead to real and effective partnership in different areas. The two leaders discussed the operations of the EU Advisory Group in Armenia and expressed satisfaction regarding its effective work.
