Armen Sargsyan Becomes First Armenian Ambassador to Singapore
Yesterday, Armenian Ambassador to Singapore Armen Sargsyan (resident in Beijing) presented his credentials to Sellapan Ramanathan, President of Singapore.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sellapan Ramanathan wished the First Armenian Ambassador to Singapore success, at a meeting after the presentation ceremony. He expressed satisfaction that this appointment would bring new impetus to the process of developing relations between the two countries.
Elaborating on the prospects for future relations between Armenia and Singapore, the newly appointed Ambassador emphasized the need to establish direct business links between the two countries. He also noted Singapore’s vast experience and its potential usefulness for Armenia’s economic development and strengthening of state structures. Both sides stated the importance of regular political dialogue and bilateral visits at different levels.
Ambassador Sargsyan briefed the President of Singapore about the priorities areas in Armenia’s foreign policy as well as regional issues and relations with neighboring countries.
During the discussion, President Ramanathan mentioned the outstanding role that Armenians had had in the history of Singapore. He also mentioned the importance of cultural relations between the two countries and suggested that concrete steps be taken quickly to organize cultural visits.
