There will be a seminar today at the Tekeyan Cultural Center arguing against modifications to the RoA laws regarding language and public education. Organizers say they are strongly oppose to the reopening of foreign language schools in Armenia. Seminar organizers have invited Education Minister Armen Ashotyan to attend and his office says that he would be happy to do so. Today however, in a surprising reversal of sorts, the organizing group issued a statement saying that it saw no reason for the official government position on the matter to be heard yet again. In response, the Education Ministry said such an approach prevented a healthy and open debate of the issue.
