Committee Strikes Down NKR "Recognition" Bill

Today, the RoA National Assembly’s Committee on Foreign Relations, voted down a draft bill calling on Armenia to recognize the independence of the NKR. The bill, sponsored by Heritage Party MP’s, only garnered two votes in favor of passage, that of Heritage Party MP Stepan Safaryan and ARF MP Vahan Hovhannisyan. There were five votes against the bill - Republican Party MP’s Vazgen Karakhanyan, Hamlet Harutyunyan, Shirak Torosyan; Prosperous Party MP Ernest Soghomonyan and independent MP Levon Khachatryan. ARF MP Armen Rustamya, President of the Committee, abstained from voting.
