Diaspora Ministry Reviews Plight of Iraqi Armenians
A meeting focusing on the plight of Armenian refugees from Iraq now residing in Armenia took place the other day at the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs. Deputy Minister Stepan Poghosyan said that about 750 Armenians from Iraq now reside in Armenia, adding that the process to integrate them into Armenian society is complex, requiring legal, economic and other approaches.
At the meeting, it was decided to require all ministries to draft a provisional agenda detailing the steps each could take to facilitate the integration process. Their reports must be submitted by August 15.
