The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, the President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev met in Saint Petersburg on the sidelines of the international economic forum. The meeting focused on the "most crucial problems" that have prevented a settlement of the Karabakh conflict, according to Medvedev’s press secretary. "The sides noted the bridging of their positions on a number of contradictory provisions of the text in the basic principles of the Karabakh conflict settlement," Natalya Timakova said. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian declared that, "The process continues. This meeting was constructive and very useful." He said that an agreement was reached to continue the negotiations on that ground. Edward Nalbandian also declared that the Minsk Group Co-Chairs plan to pay a visit to the region early in July.
