Kiramijyan and Gevorgyan Charged with Assaulting Officer
A special investigative unit has completed its preliminary investigation into the criminal case with charges of assaulting an officer and hooliganism. The investigation established that the case with these charges should proceed.
According to the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the preliminary investigation established that on 31 May at around 6 pm, Davit Kiramijyan got into an argument with a passer-by, V. Tadevosyan, in the vicinity of Martirosyan Saryan’s statue. Kiramijyan then began to assault the passer-by, hitting and kicking him a number of times.
Commander Baghdasaryan of the Police Patrol and his force stepped forward to put an end to the violence by Kiramijyan and those with him. While Davit Kiramijyan was being arrested for assault, Sargis Gevorgyan assaulted Commander Baghasaryan and caused him minor injuries in the scuffle.
Based on this evidence, Davit Kiramijyan has been charged with point 1 in part 3 of article 258 of the Criminal Code and Sargis Gevorgyan with part 1 of article 316. The case has been handed over to the Kentron and Nork Marash Court of General Jurisdiction.
