RoA Ombudsman Calls for Full Investigation of Army Violence
RoA Human Rights Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan has issued a statement strongly condemning the recent spate of violence at Armenian army units.
He points to the death of 31 year-old conscript soldier Artak Nazaryan on July 27 and the death of six soldiers a day later in Martuni, NKR. Mr. Harutyunyan says that such incidents can only negatively impact on the military preparedness of the armed forces and further weaken public confidence regarding the treatment of soldiers and conditions within army ranks. He has called for a thorough and impartial investigation of these and similar incidents.
