RoA Government to Pay 2,500 Euros to Woman Wrongly Detained in 2005
At today’s session of the RoA government, the Ministry of Justice earmarked a sum equal to 2,500 Euros to be given to Silva Asatryan to fulfill the verdict of the European Court of Human Rights adopted on February 9, 2010.
Mrs. Asatryan had filed a suit against the Armenian government at the European Court, arguing that in 2005 she was held for 19 hours in custody without a court order. The European Court found that the Armenian government had violated Article 5, Section 1 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (Right to liberty and security).
