
Today, former Environmental Inspectorate Chief Tigran Grigoryan was sentenced to seven years and his deputy, Arsen Petrosyan, was sentenced to ten years on bribery charges by the Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Court.
Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan declared that the charges against the two had been sustained even while the former officials pleaded innocent. Arsen Petrosyan was charges with demanding and receiving a 5 million AMD bribe for covering up environmental violations uncovered during an inspection of the Akhtala Mining Enrichment Combine last December. His boss, Tigran Grigoryan, was charged with taking 3.7 million AMD of the total bribe payment.
