MP Aleksanyan - "I have no idea how much land Abrahamyan owns"

At a press briefing today, Armenian MP Lernik Aleksanyan stated that he had no idea about the land holdings of National Assembly President Hovik Abrahamyan in Ararat Marz. Aleksanyan was queried about the sharp increase in the potato price in Armenian markets.
"How the heck should I know about what Abrahamyan owns? He’s a sharp businessman and a good organizer and he’s done a good job at organizing the parliament. The Constitution allows anyone to own as much land as they want," was MP Aleksanyan’s response. The MP told reporters that he not one to go counting the property owned by others. He said he’ll go on speaking out when people steal from the government but that there are oligarchs who actually contribute to the country’s economic development. MP Aleksanyan said that his family owns six hectares of apricot trees in the town of Ararat and that he owns three of those hectares. He complained that he saw no profit from the apricot crop this year, adding that growing apricots was a finicky business. "You can go without making a profit for three years straight and then make it up in the fourth year", he said.
