The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated against a police captain on taking bribe is completed
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated against the captain of Gavar Division of the RA Police on taking bribe is completed in the RA Special Investigation Service. Prosecutor General’s Office of RoA informs that the prosecutor supervising the pre-trial investigation of the criminal case has confirmed the bill of indictment.
By examining the materials received from the Internal Security Department of the RA Police it has turned out that the materials of the case on the deliberate bodily injuries caused to K. Avetisyan by Gavar resident S. Mkhitaryan were prepared by the police captain Z. Davtyan. In order not to call S. Mkhitaryan to criminal liability Z. Davtyan demanded a bribe from him and received it from May 9 to 12, 2010. It was arranged that S. Mkhitaryan should persuade K. Avetisyan not to make a complaint.
However K. Avetisyan refused to reconcile with S. Mkhitaryan and the head of the police division tasked Z. Davtyan to send the materials to be investigated. Being deprived of the opportunity to refuse the initiation of the criminal case Z. Davtyan returned the received bribe to S. Mkhitaryan months later during the trial procedure.
Z. Davtyan has been charged according to the RA Criminal Code Article 311, part 1. The criminal case has been sent to the Court of First Instance of Gegharkunik region in order to carry out a detailed investigation of the case.
