New Times President Expects Sargsyan to be Pressured at Astana

New Times political party president Aram Karapetyan stated that the international community seeks a resolution of the Karabakh conflict so that the Turkish-Armenian border can be subsequently opened. Mr. Karapetyan urges the Armenian side to be willing to compromise and that the international community expects such a compromise to involve the "occupied" territories and the granting of temporary status to Karabakh. He stated that President Sargsyan of Armenia would be pressured to sign some form of "road map" document at the upcoming Astana meeting, but that the president would not. Instead, Mr. Karapetyan believes that a document will emerge expressing the will of the parties involved to resolve the issue, even though it will include few details or a timeframe.
