Yesterday, ruling Republican Party MP Spartak Melikyan declared in parliament that a member of Armenia’s Control Chamber demanded a $4,000 bribe from the Anania Shirakatsi College during a recent inspection in order that the school not be included in its “black book”. Today, Control Chamber President Ishkhan Zakaryan declared in parliament that he would be suing MP Melikyan for his allegation. The MP told reporters that he had requested that he be temporarily stripped of his immunity so that he couldn’t be charged with hiding behind the law. “I haven’t said anything new. I said what has been common knowledge for quite some time,” stated MP Melikyan.
