Traffic Cop Charged with "Hooliganism"; Beats Driver and Wife
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated against the traffic policeman charged with committing hooliganism has been completed in the RA Special Investigation Service.
It was substantiated during the preliminary investigation that traffic cop Karen Hakobyan, together with his brother Zaven Hakobyan, violated the public order and committed hooliganism by severly injuring a citizen.
In particular, pursuant to the preliminary investigation data, on May 15, at about 08:00 p.m. K.Hakobyan had a quarrel with driver A. Beybutyan, and verbally abused and beat the latter near the Martuni bus station. Later, he made A.Beybutyan come out of the car and continued beating him.
A.Ziroyan, a friend of A. Beybutyan approached them and demanded to stop the hooliganism which made Zaven and K. Hakobyans even more enraged. They took the wheel unlock key from the adjacent wheel repair and hit A.Ziroyan on the forehead and left wrist, causing mild and medium gravity bodily injuries to the latter.
A.Ziroyan’s wife A.Sahakyan tried to help her husband, but Z.Hakobyan hit her on the head with a car jenny causing life threatening bodily injury.
K. Hakobyan has been charged and the Prosecutor General’s Office states that the criminal case has been sent to the Court of First Instance of Gegharquniq region in order to carry out a detailed examination of the case.
