Sardarabat Movement Analyzes Armenia's «Wild Capitalism»

The Sardarabat Movement held another meeting of the "Alternative Parliamentary Socio-Economic Committee" today at the offices of the Institute of Human Rights and Democracy NGO.
At today’s session, devoted to the state of workers in Armenia, Institute Vice President Gor Hakobyan presented an overview of their plight before and after modifications to the RA Labor Code. He meticulously laid out the principles behind the changes and described how they have impacted on the actual state of labor unions and labor in general. Those in attendance placed special emphasis on the need to defend workers’ interests and the urgent necessity to solidify the nascent labor union movement in Armenia. A political evaluation of the current "wild capitalism" of the present ruling regime was presented and it was argued that the government was gradually forfeiting its social responsibilities to the electorate as a result. Committee members stated that the foundations for a real class struggle in Armenia were in the offing.
