WIPO Urged to Move on Destroyed Jugha Armenian Crosses
At the recently convened "Economics of Intellectual Property" summit in Geneva organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Sasoun Hovhannisyan, representing Armenia raised the matter of the destruction of some 5,000 Armenian stone crosses by Azerbaijan in Jugha in December, 2005.
Mr. Hovhannisyan is the Director of the French branch of the Political Development Research Center. In his address, Mr. Hovhannisyan urged the WIPO to study this incident of cultural terrorism and to draft its legal evaluation. "It is tragic that, in the interest of petro-dollars, cultural riches are being demolished," he declared.
