Defeated Mayoral Candidate Doesn't Contest Charentsavan Vote
Vova Sahakyan, who heads the #26 Election District Commission in Charentsavan, told Hetq that his office hadn’t received any petitions contesting the recent mayoral election in the town. The deadline for such submissions was 2pm today.
Hours earlier, Moushegh Nikoghosyan, who ran and was defeated, had stated that due to numerous election violations he would contest the vote. The candidate also stated that he had proof to back up his claims. We can’t say why Mr. Nikoghosyan didn’t follow through. According to yesterday’s vote, Hakob Shahgaldyan, son of the Kotayk regional governor, was re-elected with 8,340 votes. His rival, Mooushegh Nikoghosyan, came in a distant second with 792 votes.
