Government Approves Vanadzor-Fioletovo Rail Link
The Armenian government today gave the green light for a new 31.2 kilometer stretch of railway linking the communities of Vanadzor and Fioletovo in northern Armenia.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said the rail link would connect the Ijevan-Yerevan and Tbilisi-Gyumri-Masis railways, thus transforming Armenia into a true regional transit country and cut down on travel times as well for freight shipping. The appropriate government departments have been given one month to meet with local community leaders along the planned route and come up with a draft plan.
