Reader Arpineh Galfayan, in a letter to Hetq, says that a petition drive was recently organized in the Sourb Gevorg Armenian Church in the village of Mughni, calling on local hunters to rid the community of stray dogs by shooting them. Ms. Galfayan calls on the church to prohibit such anti-Christian activity in its parish and urges that more humane steps be taken to solve the problem. As to how the community has been beset with a stray dog problem in the first place is anyone’s guess. It would appear that just like residents in Yerevan, dogs are let loose once their owners grow tired of keeping them.
