Cyclists Off to Armavir Zoo Carrying Emergency Help
A group of cyclists will make their way to the Armavir Zoo in an attempt to raise awareness of the pitiful conditions of the animals being kept there.
The group, "Hetzaniv+" will be cycling to the zoo this Sunday and are asking participants to bring a few loaves of bread and/or some rye with them to feed the half-starved animals. Up till now a local army base had been handing over meal leftovers to the zoo but last month the base command ordered a stop to this.
The Armavir Zoo was founded in 1981 by Armen Tadevosyan. It now covers 8 hectares and is home to scores of injured animals and some listed in Armenia’s Red Book of Endangered Species.
