Police "Cleaned" Mashtots Park of Activists (Photos)
Prior to French President François Hollande's arrival to Mashtots Park, Armenian police forcefully removed peaceful activists who had gathered at the park to protest a ceremony to rename the park after French national hero, French-Armenian poet Missak Manouchian.
Several activists holding signs who wanted to go stand near the stage were prevented by police, which led to clashes between police and activists, some of whom were detained.
Detained were Dvin Isanyans, Mika Elizbaryan, Anna Shahnazaryan, Ani Khachatryan, Arsen Ohanyan, Roland Tmoyan, and Gevorg Safaryan.
