Activists Raise Warning: Bulldozers Removing Last Stand of Trees Surrounding Yerevan
A civic group in Armenia has disseminated the following video showing how bulldozers are destroying trees adjacent to the Water World summer amusement park in the Nor Nork district of Yerevan.
The “We Are the Masters of This Town” group says that the video was taken by local residents yesterday and that the construction work to build a playground was ordered by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan.
The group says the decision was taken by a mayor and municipality that is corrupt to the core and has no comprehension of environmental matters, arguing that the site is one of the last remaining stand of trees surrounding Yerevan.
