Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today hosted visiting Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoë, who also serves as president of the International Association of Francophone Mayors.

The Association met yesterday in Yerevan for its 31st General Assembly. Today, a delegation visited the Tzitzernakaberd Genocide Memorial and laid a wreath in honor of the 1915 victims.

Delanoë has been mayor of Paris since 18 March 2001, when control of the city council was won by a left-wing alliance for the first time since the 1871 Paris Commune.

Delanoë was one of the first major French politicians to announce that he was gay.
