Bill Would Grant 70% Pensions to Presidents After Leaving Office
The Armenian government has proposed a bill today that would grant a special pension amounting to 70% of their salary to presidents once they leave office.
Currently, the salty received by a president in Armenia is 1,322,800 AMD (US$2759) per month.
If the bill passes, they would receive a monthly pension of $1,931.
As the law currently stands, once a president leaves office they are entitled to an apartment and a furnished office at taxpayer expense.
The bill will probably be debated when the parliament reconvenes after the winter break.
