Hetq Readers Respond: Zakaryan Family of Aknashen Move Into New Home
Last October, Hetq wrote about Armen and Elmira Zakaryan and their six children living in a tomik (metal trailer) in Aknashen, a village in Armenia’s Armavir Province.
Now, the family has a new home thanks to the financial assistance of the Minakian and Kenden families of New York and the Fuller Center for Housing.
It’s been a month since the Zakaryans have moved into their new home. The family has also been provided with a small barn, a tonir, and three heaters.
According to the agreement, the family’s mortgage works out to 21,000 drams ($44) monthly for twenty years.
