Armenia's Economic Activity Index Up 5.5%
Armenia’s Economic Activity Index (EAI) rose by 5.5% during the period of January-May 2016 when compared to the same period last year.
The EAI is a composite indicator that estimates the activity of different economic sectors in a given month.
According to Armenia’s National Statistical Service, growth was reported in manufacturing, services and agriculture.
Manufacturing rose 8.6% in the above-mentioned period, the service sector by 8.6%, and agriculture by 4.7%, when compared to the same period in 2015.
Construction contracted by 7.9% and the domestic trade turnover dropped by 0.1%.
