Zohrab Aslanyan, a 32-year-old independent, won yesterday’s mayoral election in the Aragatzotn village of Ttoudjour beating his closest rival Arsen Sahakyan, secretary of the village staff, by a vote of 108 to 57.

Sahakyan represented the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

Independent Gagik Voskanyan came in third with 44 votes and another independent, Vigen Grigoryan, trailed with just 4 votes.

Voter turnout in the village, where 264 were registered to vote, was 82%.
