Armenian Transportation Minister Discusses Lars Border Crossing with Georgian PM
Armenian Minister of Transportation and Communications Gagik Beglaryan met with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili in Tbilisi yesterday and the first item on the agenda was the work being done to repair the road at the Upper Lars border crossing.
The Upper Lars border crossing was blocked on June 23 by a massive mudslide caused by heavy rains, destroying a one kilometer section of the roadway which serves as the only conduit for Armenian cargo haulers to reach Russia across Georgian territory.
PM Kvirikashvili said his country is doing everything to repair the vital roadway.
The two sides also discussed matters regarding better usage of Georgia as a transit route for Armenia.
