Yerevan Police Detain 27 in Liberty Square
Police detained 27 people yesterday evening in Yerevan’s Liberty Square.
Some had specifically gone there to participate in a public rally, while others were mere passersby.
Those attending the rally wished to voice their opposition to the regime’s crackdown on freedom of expression and freedom of assembly in the wake of the two-week armed standoff at a Yerevan police building.
Police gave no reason why they were detaining people in the square and told reporters to contact the police department’s public affairs division.
Police wrote up administrative summons for the 27 and then released them.
