Early this morning, members of the Armenian Special Branch broke into the house of Armen Ohanyan, who works at the All-Armenian Fund, and forcibly took him into custody.

Armen Ohanyan’s brother told Hetq that Armen at first refused to go anywhere without seeing an arrest warrant but that another group of men arrived, twisted Armen’s arms and took him away.

Ohanyan’s brother says they took Armen to the RA Special Security Service but never provided a reason.

Armen Ohanyan is employed at the All-Armenian Fund as a Chief Expert in the Public Affairs Department.

Hasmik Grigoryan, who heads the Fund’s Public Affairs Department, told Hetq that Armen Ohanyan was a conscientious worker and that she believes the incident has nothing to do with the Fund.

Armen Ohanyan is a member of the “Army, In Reality” civic initiative.

Presently, Armen’s friends and relatives are gathered outside the National Security Service Building. Attorney Nikolay Baghdasaryan has entered the building.

National Security Service Press Spokesman Artzvin Baghramyan has told ArmenPress that Ohanyan is being questioned regarding the issuance of false high school diplomas and underlined that Ohanyan’s interrogation has nothing to do with his political opinions.
