Police Detain Narekatsi Art Union President Nareg Hartounian

Early this morning, police took Nareg Hartounian, President of the Narekatsi Art Union, into custody.

Harutyunyan and some friends were just about to leave for church to participate in a requiem service for his father who passed away 40 days ago.

Harutyunyan was detained by two employees from the RA State Revenue Committee

Prior to this, Narekatsi Art Union chief account, Artur Galstyan, had been charged with tax evasion while working for GH Storage Enterprises, a company that law enforcement says is really owned by Narek Harutyunyan.

A Yerevan Court will shortly pass judgement on Hartounian's possible arrest

Armenian government punishes the good people and accepts bribe money from the bad. What about all the orphanages and Adoption agency facilators that make thousands of dollars off of obtaining children for wealthy Americans? Why haven't they been taxed? That is right they are not recognized or registered in Armenia. There is corruption in the orphanages, money should be spent to educate the children to increase the economic conditions. Instead it is spent to warehouse childre from poverty stricken families. Shame on you Armenia, your future generation is crumbling.

I'm saddened, disgusted, ashamed of the so called government (I would prefer to call it an officalised mafia but there you go) Nareg is the one helping Armenia, reviving our true music, ensuring the longevity and strength of our culture. And guess what the government do to pure hearted people that are not like them? they crap all over them. Who needs a genocide when you got a government like that eh? Comon man DO SOMETHING, you with your pockets full of money. I was told once that one government official, a minister of (I'm not saying but I know who it is), was at a casino in Monaco spending wads of cash a few years ago, and had the most sour look on his face because he was losing, but continued to pump in more cash to continue the game anyway. I want the imposters to leave and I want the real Armenians like Nareg to flourish. Please be strong Nareg.

Shame on this corrupt government. I know Nareg for over twnety years and he was in Armenian to help bot be a thief. Justice minister should study his case and pardon him quickly. What a shame on Armenia.

Shame on you Armenian government. Putting Nareg in jail is sending the message to all Armenian's who leave outside of Armenia to be careful if you want to help Armenia. I know Nareg for almost 15 years, here in USA he lived in a most humble apartment, and his only joy and focus in life was to HELP ARMENIA and he did so much!
