2012 - Challenges and Sucess Await Armenia's "Dragon" MP's

If you believe in astrology, horoscopes and the secrets hidden in coffee grinds, then perhaps the following might be of interest. Others may just find it amusing.

According to the Chinese calendar, 2012 is the year of the dragon.

11 Armenian MP’s were born under the sign. Astrologers predict a difficult year awaits them, but a successful one. In short, a year of challenges and victories. Let’s look at a few of our “dragon” MP’s.

Arayik Hovhannisyan, a member of the ruling Republican Party, says he will be celebrating New Years at home in Yerevan.

“Everyone has certain expectations, especially me given that my sign is the dragon. Perhaps this fact will have some impact and I will meet with success next year,” Hovhannisyan told Hetq.

Hovhanness Margaryan, a member of the junior coalition partner, the Rule of Law party, told me that he’s been ushering in the New Year with party colleagues and then travels back home to Gyumri.

Margaryan put a slightly political bent to his expectations for next year, wishing that Gyumri would take care of its homeless problem.

“On a personal level, I would hope to accomplish the responsibilities my constituents have trusted in me,” Margaryan noted.

He added that as a child he believed in Santa Clause and still holds dear the spirit of goodwill that Father Christmas has come to symbolize.

Rafik Petrosyan, also with the Republican Party, says he always celebrates the holiday at home with friends and family.

“As for expectations, well first of all I wish god health to all my family and peace for the country. I also hope that our government and its officials will work even harder for the development and prosperity of the people,” Petrosyan noted.

Only one member of the government, Youth and Sports Minister Artur Petrosyan, has the dragon as his sign.
