Emergency Situations Minister Has No Plans to Seek Another Government Post

Earlier today, via Facebook, Yelk Alliance MP Ararat Mirzoyan said that Acting Minister of Emergency Situations Davit Tonoyan “would make a great candidate for the post of defense minister”.

Tonoyan responded by saying that he would continue serving as Minister of Emergency Situations until he is dismissed by the president and that he has no plans to seek another government post.

As to whether he’s meeting with representatives of other political forces to discuss his future options, Tonoyan said any contacts he’s had with the Yelk Alliance representatives have solely focused on ensuring public safety.

The Yelk Alliance Faction in Armenia’s parliament is headed by Nikol Pashinyan, who’s spearheading an anti-government protest movement in the country.

Mass protests forced the resignation of Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister on April 23.

Yelk Alliance MP Ararat Mirzoyan has a great sense of humor if he makes such statements. However, such kind of jokes would be more appropriate on April 1 - the Fools' day.
