
Yerevan: Police Colonel Robs HSBC Bank; Two Dead
A colonel in the Armenian Roadway Police pulled off a daring afternoon raid on a Yerevan bank today, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash before being subdued soon after.
Colonel Daniel Danielyan, who heads the police department’s Registry Department of Traffic Violations Caught on Camera, entered the HSBC branch at the intersection of Komitas and Gulbenkian at 2:25pm today.
Police report that Danielyan, armed with a hand grenade, rifle and knife, injured two bank employees in the robbery. One of the two, a security guard, was killed.
Ara Shakhgoulyan, a policeman who was stationed at the bank and was also injured, died in hospital while being operated on for a gunshot wound.
