
Several Republican Party of Armenia MPs Break Ranks and Call for December Parliamentary Elections
The Armenian Times (Haykakan Zhamanak) website issued a news brief today stating that 16 Armenian MPs, 12 from the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) have signed a petition calling for parliamentary elections in December.
The HHK has opposed elections in December, arguing that they be postponed until May or June of next year.
HHK MP Knyaz Hasanov, who was elected to parliament on the national minority quota, told reporters covering the story in the National Assembly that he backs December elections because that’s what the people want.
“We entered the legislature on the national minority quota at a time when the HHK was the government. Now, the government has changed. In addition, the entire Armenian people back this government,” Hasanov said.
Hasanov thanked the HHK for doing everything to assist national minorities in Armenia in terms of education, health, culture and community improvement.

Hakobyan (HHK), Shirak Torosyan (unaffiliated), Knyaz Hasanov (HHK), Arsen Mikhaylov (HHK), Harutyun Karapoghosyan (HHK), Samvel Aleksanyan (unaffiliated), Nahapet Gevorgyan (HHK), Arayik Grigoryan (HHK), Ishkhan Zakaryan (BHK), Avet Sargsyan (HHK), Raffi Grigoryan (HHK).
