This Senior Citizen Remains Optimistic Despite It All
Despite the challenges she faces, 65 year-old Anahit Serobyan from Armavir exudes boundless optimism.
Her right leg was amputated 20 years ago. The former nurse struggles to make a living by selling pastries to students in the town’s school yard.
She’s gets a pension but says it’s a mere pittance and that she can’t even pay her utilities.
“When I was physically fit to work there were no jobs, she says. Now I have neither the physical ability nor the financial resources to get by.”
Mrs. Serobyan says she’ll never leave Armenia, despite all the difficulties.
“I was born and raised her in Armenia. It’s where I went to school and met my future husband.”
Her husband died from a heart attack. She has no children.
I saw no bitterness in her eyes.
“It’s not important that I’ve led a hard life. That’s destiny. What’s important is that future generations see better times,” she says.
Her words are infused with optimism and she enriches her life with kindness.
